Despite the muggy weather the fishing continues to be strong. As usual for this time of year, the big blues are all over the South Shore. Tom Nevers has been working well for the guys here at the shop. I have also heard of huge stripers off the Island rips.

I fished the flats the morning and saw a fair number of large stripers.

Go get em!

Wow! Big bluefish have infiltrated our waters off the South side of the Island. They are hungry and will eat anything. The striped bass fishing has been excellent, specifically off the East end rips. Despite the wind, the flats continue to fish fairly well, with fish eating small crab and shrimp imitations. Go out there and fish!

Welcome to the new Nantucket Tackle Center/Barry Thurston's first fishing report of 2009! Although we are a little behind on the reports, we are happy to say that the fishing continues to be spectacular, and will surely shape up to be one of the best seasons in quite some time.

Bass continue to fish well in the harbor and are being caught around first and second point. The standard issue lures, i.e., sluggo, bombers, Hogey's, etc have been working well.

We have heard reports of blues all over the South Shore and in Dionis.

Don't worry too much about tides; just go out and fish!
